Sixty-fifth Anniversary of the Establishment of Nepal-China Diplomatic Relations

1 August 2020 was the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People’s Republic of China. The Embassy of Nepal hosted several important activities to mark the celebrations of this important occasion.

On 31 July, Ambassador Pandey donated 70 cacheted First Day Cancellations of postal stamps of Nepal to Philately Association of China. The stamps were received at the Embassy by Mr. Lv Xinghyua, Deputy Curator of the Association. Also present were Mr. Ma Xiaoling, Secretary General, Philatelic Association, Mr. Li Chunqiao,  Secretary General, Beijing Musical Instrument Society , as well as Ms. Zhang Wuyu, Prima Guzheng Performer. The postal stamps include a wide range of topics including wildlife, birds, cultural heritage, and iconic images of Nepal’s spectacular natural beauty. These donated stamps are from the personal philatelic collection of Hind Biraj Gurubacharya. They will be displayed in the museum in Beijing.

Also on July 31, Ambassador Pandey held interactions with noted Chinese experts on further deepening Nepal-China bilateral relations. The participants in the interaction included Mr. Han Fangming, President of Charhar Institute, Prof. Wang Hongwei, Prof. Ma Jiali, Executive Vice-Director of China Reform Forum, and Prof. Chen Xiaochen, Director of International Studies at Chaoyang Institute of Renmin University.

On 1 August, Ambassador of Nepal to China, H.E. Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, together with diplomatic officials, local staff and their families carried out a cleaning campaign of the Embassy premises.
