Press Release on the Celebration of Buddha Jayanti

The 2565th Buddha Jayanti was observed amid a function at the Embassy of Nepal, Beijing this morning. The program was attended by more than a hundred participants comprising of Chinese nationals from various walks of life as well as ambassadors and diplomats and members of the Nepali community living in China.

Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Mahendra Bahadur Pandey extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion and shed light on Gautam Buddha’s teachings for peace and harmony in the world. He highlighted the glorious tradition of cultural relations between Nepal and China including the exchange of Buddhist monks, scholars and literature, and expressed the view that such interactions have contributed greatly in promoting ties between the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Most Venerable Monk Zong Xing, Vice-President of the Buddhist Association of China highlighted the ancient roots of people-to-people relations between Nepal and China, and expressed the hope that the friendly relations between the two countries would continue to grow and flourish in the days to come.

Also on the occasion, prayers were offered by Buddhist monks and participants for universal peace and harmony, and a singing bowl performance was made by the artists of Nirvana Sounds.
